So, to start off, I'll say that I totally forgot that I made this blog and I'm happy that I remembered it. I hope to keep up with it. The premise is a great one, and hopefully this outlet will help me cross bridges that I've been to afraid to recently.
I've actually had the urge to write something lately, but when I sit down to think about what I'd like to write about, a million different things surge into my head and I just cannot seem to pick one worthy of my time typing on the keyboard. Then again, what DO I do on the computer that's worthy of my time?
Educate myself.
There's a good one!
We'll go ahead and start talking about research/education. I spend the majority of my time on the internet reading articles, looking things up, discussing, comparing, thinking, theorizing, etc. Most of what I'm looking up is relative to my lifestyle, to mine and my children's health, or things like pregnancy/labor/birth or parenting, in general. I know that I have really formed this into a 'hobby' of mine. And while I understand that not everyone wants to spend hours upon hours forming their decisions upon things, and finding facts to base their decisions upon, I am VERY often left wondering during my 'discussions' why many people don't just spend MORE time researching. Why don't people spend time questioning things??? When your mother asked you, "If so-and-so said you should jump off a bridge, would you do it?", it wasn't a rhetorical question.
I am surprised at how much people theorize on their own and call it truth and how much people listen to other people, without having any indication of if that person really knows what they're talking about. Not everything has a "right" or "wrong" way about it, but spending just a little bit of time truly analyzing the important things in your life could lead you to discover many things about yourself and/or your life that you just weren't paying attention to before. This can happen just by asking "Why?" to more things.
Learning why you do things a certain way, why you should do them, alternative ways of doing things (even if your current way seems to be working for you), etc. will help lead you to more self-confidence, I believe. When you spend the time becoming more secure in the "why", you really will believe that your decisions are the right ones for you (or your children), and will feel better knowing that you are making an educated choice about things that (you may or may not know yet!) matter in your life.
Take some time out of your week to spend learning about the things that encompass you and your family. The world is diverse and you're SURELY not ever going to be living the best life you possibly could. Why not at least make more out of it?! Why not strive to be better?
With this being said, I want all of my readers to feel free to contact me for information about "things". If I can spare the time or the knowledge, I will. I will point you in directions to obtain the info you want. I cannot answer every question and I don't claim to know a whole lot about anything, really, but if I can be of assistance to making your life a more educated one, I will be. Thanks for reading this time.
